Asarel-Medet JSC is one of the largest industrial investors in the country. Each year, we design, implement, and further develop dozens of projects under our seven strategic programmes for long-term sustainable development.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, we have followed a long path of modernization, innovation, and digital transformation, investing over USD 1 billion in our corporate development programmes. Performance reports show that in 2025 alone we invested more than EUR 60 million in projects focused on production efficiency, occupational safety, environmental protection, and the development of the mineral resource base, human capital, and corporate investments.
Thanks to modernization, investments in sustainable prosperity, and the efforts of our team, today we are able to efficiently process copper ores with an average grade significantly lower than the global industry standard.
Asarel-Medet JSC has been the first Bulgarian company holding a First-Class Investor Certificate since 2005 and has received three “Investor of the Year” awards. In 2007, the modernization of production capacities along the entire technological chain with equipment from leading global manufacturers was recognized. In 2011, we received an award for green investments as an example of circular economy and carbon footprint reduction. Our cathode copper extraction and electrowinning installation maximizes resource utilization and produces a valuable exchange-traded product from mining waste, while the cyclic conveyor transport technology for ore significantly shortens haulage distances and reduces emissions from mining transport by 40%. In 2016, recognition was also given to the largest public-private investment in Bulgarian healthcare at the time, which led to the construction of Uni Hospital in Panagyurishte.
The projects under our strategic sustainable development programmes drive our progress toward the global goals. Each project undergoes a preliminary technical and economic assessment, which also includes indicators related to environmental protection, occupational safety, and human capital development.
