Occupational Health and Safety
Caring for health and safety is a consistent corporate policy and a core value for our team, and zero workplace accidents is our long-term strategic goal. We encourage every new initiative in this field with the understanding that business success and workplace well-being start with what matters most – the health and safety of people. We follow an integrated management system in line with international standards, study best practices, and work with dedication and a strong sense of urgency.
We are aware of the risks inherent in heavy industry and are focused on their comprehensive identification, management, and prevention. Every year we develop a Program for Improving Occupational Health and Safety Conditions – one of our seven strategic programs for sustainable development. The usual annual volume of our investments in this area exceeds 1.3 million EUR, in addition to the costs for high-quality apparels and personal protective equipment, life insurance and voluntary health insurance and a comprehensive health prevention program for all employees.
We are grateful for the constructive cooperation with our partners from the trade union organizations, as many social benefits are directly related to working conditions. Training and the staff awareness and team responsibility are also a priority in this process, which we emphasize through our corporate information campaigns.
We are proud that for decades the team of the Asarel Health Service, in partnership with the Regional Center for Transfusion Hematology in Plovdiv, has organized two voluntary blood donation campaigns every year, with dozens of colleagues responding each time to the call for help. The same dedication is consistently demonstrated by the team of the company’s Emergency and Rescue Service Asarel and other volunteer colleagues, who over the years have repeatedly played a crucial role in containing forest fires or responding to disasters in different parts of the municipality and the country.
